Financial Requirements for Residence Permit in Poland for Students
When applying for a residence permit in Poland, foreign students must demonstrate financial solvency as a mandatory condition, regardless of their study program. This proof ensures that the student has sufficient funds to cover their living expenses in Poland throughout their studies and can afford to return to their home country once their studies are completed.
Key Financial Evidence Requirements:
1. Living Expenses: Students must show they have enough funds to cover their living costs in Poland. The minimum amount required for maintenance is 776 PLN per month for a 15-month period, totaling 11,640 PLN. From 2025, this amount will rise to 1010 PLN per month, equating to a total of 15,150 PLN for the entire period.
2. Return Journey: The funds required for the return journey depend on the student's country of origin:
- For students from Poland’s neighboring countries, the required amount is 200 PLN.
- For students from other EU member states, the amount is 500 PLN.
- For students from non-EU countries, the required amount is 2500 PLN.
3. Accommodation: Students must also provide proof of sufficient funds to cover accommodation costs during their stay. This proof may include a document detailing the cost of accommodation, known as the "Oświadczenie d kosztów zamieszkania".
4. Proof of Financial Solvency: Evidence of financial solvency can be provided through various means, such as:
- A bank statement showing sufficient funds in the student's account.
- Traveler’s checks.
- Proof of a scholarship.
- A certificate of employment and salary.
Application Fees:
The application fee for a residence permit is 340 PLN, which is non-refundable if the application is rejected.
If the application is approved, an additional fee of 100 PLN is required for the production of the plastic residence card.
By meeting these financial requirements, foreign students can ensure their eligibility for a residence permit to study in Poland.
