If your Schengen visa has been denied, it might not be the end of your travel plans. A recent case from Delhi shows that an appeal — supported by the right documents and a clear explanation — can reverse a rejection in just a few days.
A Reddit post titled “Spain Schengen appeal approved: Delhi Experience” offers insight into how one Indian applicant successfully challenged his rejection. The user, a 26-year-old male medical student and solo traveller, shared his journey after being denied a visa to attend a medical conference in Spain.
Despite holding valid visas for the USA and Canada and having travelled to over 28 countries (including previously expired visas from Schengen, Japan, and the UK), his visa application was rejected on July 11, 2025. The stated reasons: "purpose of visit not reliable, documents not reliable."
Not giving up, he filed an appeal on July 30. Here’s what he did differently:
“Got old documents sealed and signed, added a letter of support from my father,” he wrote. On August 1, he received a call from the Spanish consulate in Delhi notifying him of the appeal’s approval. He was asked to visit the consular section, where his visa was stamped within 30 minutes. The result: a 30-day multiple-entry Schengen visa.
What’s more, he emphasized that no appointment was needed to file the appeal — he simply walked into the consular section with the rejection letter and supporting documents.
This case highlights an important lesson: consular decisions can be reconsidered if applicants provide stronger evidence or clarify any doubts. Travel experts suggest that factors such as a robust travel history, valid visas from trusted countries, and letters of support from family or institutions can significantly strengthen a visa appeal.
