Seven Individuals Detained for Fake Schengen Visas at Mumbai Airport, Agent Behind Fraud Tracked
Mumbai — Seven people from Gujarat were recently deported from Dubai and detained at Mumbai International Airport for possessing counterfeit Schengen visas. The group, including individuals named Kaushikkumar Patel and Arthkumar Patel, planned to travel to Luxembourg and 28 other Schengen countries using these fraudulent documents.
Authorities revealed that the fake travel arrangements were orchestrated by a local travel agent named Kisan from Gujarat. According to a police officer from the Sahar police station, “Their travel was planned by local agent Kisan, who provided them with tourist visas and fake Schengen visas. During interrogation, the detainees disclosed that the agent promised they could settle and work across European nations with these visas. We are actively tracking the agent responsible for issuing the counterfeit documents.”
The deception was uncovered when Dubai immigration flagged their visas, leading to their deportation and handover to Mumbai police. Immigration officer Vishnu Sawant, who inspected the arrivals, said, “Seven individuals were deported from Dubai with visas that lacked essential security features. On close examination, these were Luxembourg Employment Schengen Visas, but identified as fake.”
The detainees were reportedly told that these visas would allow them to settle and find employment freely in any of the 29 Schengen countries without additional permissions, a claim that has been proven false. The case has raised concerns over fraudulent networks exploiting the hopes of those seeking better opportunities abroad.
Sahar police have confirmed an ongoing investigation to apprehend the local agent involved and dismantle the network behind the visa fraud. Officials also emphasized the importance of tightening visa verification processes to prevent similar scams.
