Slovenia to Launch Digital Nomad Visa in November 2025
Slovenia is stepping into the spotlight as the latest European Union country to welcome digital nomads. Beginning November 21, 2025, the country will introduce a digital nomad visa, offering non-EU/EEA citizens the opportunity to live and work remotely from this beautiful Central European destination for up to 12 months.
What the Slovenian Digital Nomad Visa Offers
The new visa is designed specifically for remote workers who are employed by or work with clients outside Slovenia. This means that anyone working for a Slovenian-based company or offering services within Slovenia would not qualify.
Key highlights of the program include:
- 12-month stay in Slovenia for eligible digital nomads.
- Open to all non-EU/EEA nationals.
- Applicants must work for non-Slovenian companies or clients.
- No back-to-back renewal: Once the visa expires, individuals must spend at least six months outside the country before reapplying.
Bringing Family Members
Digital nomads granted this visa may also bring family members, provided certain conditions are met:
- Family members cannot work in Slovenia.
- Applicants must prove sufficient financial resources to support both themselves and their dependents. The exact income threshold is still pending announcement.
Where and How to Apply
Applications can be submitted either online or through a Slovenian consulate or embassy. As the launch date approaches, more detailed application guidelines are expected to be released.
Why Slovenia?
Slovenia offers an appealing mix of affordability, natural beauty, and infrastructure. Its capital, Ljubljana, is known for its co-working spaces, buzzing social scene, and vibrant culture. Meanwhile, quieter cities like Celje, Maribor, Kranj, and Koper present ideal options for families or those seeking a more laid-back lifestyle.
With this move, Slovenia joins a growing list of EU countries recognizing the economic and cultural potential of attracting global remote workers. By offering this visa, the country hopes to diversify its talent pool and boost long-term tourism.
Stay tuned for updates as more details become available leading up to the November launch.
