Tuition Fees and Funding for Higher Education in Austria
Austria offers an affordable higher education system, particularly for students from Austria and other EU/EEA countries. If you fall into this category, you are exempt from paying tuition fees, as public universities in Austria provide free education. However, if your studies extend beyond the standard duration by more than two semesters, you will be required to pay a fee of approximately €363.36 (~US$390) per semester.
For students from non-EU countries, tuition fees are €726.72 (~US$780) per semester. Additionally, all students, regardless of nationality, must pay a compulsory student union membership fee of €17.50 (~US$19) per semester.
To support international students, some scholarships may be available, depending on eligibility criteria and the institution. Prospective students are encouraged to explore funding opportunities to help manage the cost of studying in Austria.
